Harmful Toxic Chemicals Used In SkinCare Products

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

There are many chemicals that are used in skincare products that are very harmful to your skin. Here are some of those very harmful chemicals that are used in Skincare products.

1) Fragrances

Fragrances (or cologne ) are in almost 50 percent of all cosmetic products. These combinations of aromatics, which provide beauty goods their signature scents, are usually chemical cocktails. "Fragrance" is basically a short-term for"key ingredients".

The issue with odor is that the legislation doesn't require companies to inform consumers what's really in these covert"blends". It's not possible to understand what any mix is made from.

Therefore, some fresh cosmetic business release products which are fragrance-free. Now, this does not mean that the product does not smell like anything. It merely signals that the goods keep their natural odor and aren't masked by a fragrance mix.

Best Alternative: 3,4,4 Trichlorocarbanilide (Triclocarban) is an active ingredient that finds extensive application in personal care and hygiene products manufacturing industry all over the globe

2) Parabens

They stop germs, mold, fungus, as well as parasites out of growing. There are a couple of significant issues with parabens: studies reveal that these compounds can be absorbed through our skin and into our blood where they stay and accumulate.

They mimic estrogen in the human body and might interrupt our natural hormonal equilibrium. There might be a connection between parabens' vulnerability and breast cancer. This isn't sure, but present research is sufficient to prompt changes in customer decorative options. There are lots of choices to parabens, that are secure and equally as successful!

Best Alternative: Phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid and Ethylhexylglycerin is known for its deodorizing properties that also find extensive use as a preservative and as an active skin conditioning agent.

3) Triclosan

Triclosan (also called Microban) is just another compound commonly used as a preservative in skincare products. Any skincare product which claims to get anti-bacterial properties probably includes triclosan.

Triclosan can be added to antibacterial soaps and hand-sanitizers. But they kill both fantastic and bad germs indiscriminately. Additionally, the FDA does not have any signs which"triclosan from OTC (over-the-counter) consumer antibacterial soaps and body washes offer any advantage over washing with soap and water"

There is also proof that indicates Triclosan may lead to the increase of"superbugs" which are resistant to antibiotic therapy. Triclosan may interrupt your normal hormonal balance and weaken your immune apparatus. It may develop on your fat cells with time and may be found in blood glucose, blood, and urine.

4) Phthalates

Phthalates are a group of compounds used to make products more liquid and less dry. You can get these in products such as nail polish, detergents, toys, shampoos, lotions, and moisturizers. Many studies reveal links to male and female reproductive defects, asthma, ADHD, breast cancer, diabetes, and even diabetes. Just to be safe, avoid phthalates when possible.

The issue is that"odor" contains phthalates, which makes it impossible to identify on the product label. The best way to avoid phthalates is to avoid products that contain fragrance and arrive in economical plastic packaging. You should also shop from high-integrity beauty brands, who state they avoid using these compounds.

5) Propylene glycol

Propylene glycol (also referred to as PG) is a component in many different liquid skincare products, in addition to antifreeze, brake fluid, and paints. PG can allow harmful compounds to seep farther in your skin and blood than they can otherwise perform on their own.PG has been connected to some cases of skin inflammation and aggravation. While PG can stop moisture loss by developing a seal on your skin, it may make your skin drier by drawing moisture in the deeper layers of the skin towards the top-most layers.
